About Shane Coursen
His career began in the late 1980s executing hardware diagnostics for NYNEX Business Center and Entre’ Computer Center, followed by critical quality assurance roles testing complex FTP and TCP/IP protocol stacks across legacy DOS, UNIX, and VAX/VMS environments. From 1992 to 1996, Shane worked at Symantec Corporation as an Associate Software Engineer on the flagship Norton Antivirus line. Between 1996 and 2007, he was recruited into senior-level antivirus research positions for the world’s most prominent cybersecurity giants, including Dr. Solomon’s Software, McAfee, Trend Micro, Fortinet, and Kaspersky Lab.
Shane is a globally recognized authority in computer security and threat intelligence. Between 1995 and 2002, he was the maintainer of The Joe Wells WildList , the international benchmark tracking index used to certify commercial antivirus scanning engines.
